Alia Pialtos received a BFA in Ceramics from Massachusetts College of Art & Design and an MFA in Ceramics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally at venues that include the Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami, Science Gallery Dublin, The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, Kansas City Museum, Hunter College Project Space in New York, Glassell School of Art in Houston, Boston University’s 808 Gallery, and MAD Gallery in Essex, UK.
In 2012, she was an Emerging Artist for the Phoenix Gallery in New York and opened a solo exhibition in Chelsea. Pialtos has received numerous grants and awards such as a Craft Research Fund Grant through the Center for Craft, Creativity & Design, an NCECA Graduate Student Fellowship, First Prize at the Ninth Annual Marge Brown Kalodner Exhibition at The Clay Studio, and First Prize for the Helen Blair Crosbie Sculpture Award from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. From 2015-2017, she was an Artist in Residence at Worcester Center for Crafts and currently lives and works in Worcester, Massachusetts.
